6-15. Tourism Development in the Valleys of Torghabeh, Shandiz, etc. - Strategic | Mashhad | 2001

This project involves strategic-scale studies and planning for the key valleys of the Binalud Mountains, located southwest of Mashhad — specifically, the Torqabeh Valley (approx. 20 km in length) and the Shandiz Valley (approx. 40 km). The study area extends from the Binalud highlands to the outskirts of Mashhad. The primary goal is to enable sustainable tourism development, regulate construction activities, and control urban expansion within these valleys, all while preserving natural and environmental values based on a sustainable development approach. The plan covers the valleys, foothill areas, surrounding elevations, and the villages within the region. It offers strategies for balanced tourism growth across the entire zone and emphasizes the importance of connecting the northern and southern valleys of the Binalud range via existing highland routes to promote eco-tourism. The total study area spans approximately 600 square kilometers. * In Section 8 (The Sustainable Development Approach), additional data from this plan are presented.
