Residential Complex – Besat New Town (Jarahi)

In the 1970s, a new town was planned by Mandala Consulting Engineers on the banks of the Jarahi River to house petrochemical industry staff. In one part, General Mechanics Company built two-story prefabricated concrete houses, and in another part, single-story Danish wooden villas were installed. After the 1979 revolution and the Iran-Iraq war, construction halted, and the units were occupied by war refugees. The residential town, planned over 60 hectares, includes 1,200 housing units of one, two and four-story buildings, alongside commercial, service, recreational and leisure facilities serving both the new town and the older Besat settlement. Housing types include detached and group single-story homes (2, 3 or 4 bedrooms), two-story buildings (2 and 3 bedrooms) and four-story apartment blocks (2 and 3 bedrooms).
