6-25. Railway Site and Station – Strategic Plan | Tehran | 2005

It has been over 70 years since the construction of Tehran's railway system. With the city's continued expansion, numerous issues have emerged around the central station and along the railway lines within the urban fabric. This project was initiated to study these challenges and propose solutions in the following areas: Redesigning and optimizing Tehran’s central railway station. Redevelopment and planning of railway-owned land within the city. Addressing urban issues caused by rail lines intersecting the urban environment. Future planning for the railway’s integration with the metropolitan development of Tehran, considering urban, environmental, and technological dimensions. The project was a joint collaboration with the German engineering consultancy Fichtner (Füssing). The study area included the entire city of Tehran, all train routes, and a design focus on the 170-hectare area surrounding the central station. However, due to the client's inability to secure the required foreign currency funding, the project could not be carried through to completion. * In Section 8 (The Sustainable Development Approach), additional data from this plan are presented.
