Mi'adgah – Center for the Cultural Houses of Iran’s Ethnicities | Tehran | 1995
Situated atop the Jamshidieh Heights with a commanding view of Tehran, this 8,000-square-meter complex features galleries showcasing the arts of various Iranian regions, a large amphitheater and concert hall overlooking the city, multiple restaurants, an eastern teahouse designed for watching the sunrise and a western teahouse for viewing the sunset. It also includes a traditional Zurkhaneh (Persian gym) and open spaces for festivals and celebrations.
Each ethnic group is celebrated through special ceremonies held on designated days or weeks. At the summit of the complex stands a light tower, which emits different colors each night aligned with the events, visible from across Tehran to inform citizens of ongoing programs. Access to the complex is provided via a sloped elevator rising from the eastern edge through the Jamshidieh valley.
